For the scarf in the picture I used 1 and 1/3 skeins of Watermelon Caron's Simply Soft Brites, 1 and 1/3 skein White Bernat Boa and a Susan Bates size H hook. The scarf is 2.5 inches wide by 107 inches long. The next one I make will be 72 inches long, to see if it uses less than a full skein (and to make it a more kid friendly size).
Make a chain as long as you want your scarf to be, plus one chain--scarf will be worked length-wise.
SC in 2nd chain from hook and each ch across. Ch 2 and turn. (Turning chain always counts as the first st).
DC in same st as turning chain, 2 DC in each st to end. Ch 2 and turn.
DC in same st as turning chain, *DC in next st, 2 DC in next st. Repeat from * to end.
DC in same st as turning chain, *DC in each of next 2 st, 2 DC in next st. Repeat from * to end.
If you wish to make your scarf wider, continue as before; just add an additional DC to the repeating pattern in each row. (Much like you would if crocheting in the round for a hat.)
For the final row, switch to eyelash yarn. Sc in each st across to end of scarf.
