Spring Has Sprung Shawl

For the shawl in the picture I used (most of) 3 skeins of Bernat Softee Baby in Mint, and a Susan Bates size H hook.

The Idea

This shawl is done from the point up, which is really my favorite method. I have a bad habit of not buying enough yarn; using this method, if I run out and can't get more of the same color, I can always just stop crocheting and turn it into a capelet.

The pattern is very similar to the one I used for my wedding shawl. I think that the wedding shawl turned out beautifully, but I wasn't entirely happy with the design. This is take 2, with baby yarn, larger hook and pattern changes.

Stitches

Please note that the closeups of the stitches were made using a heavier yarn and large hook to make the picutres clearer.
tr = treble yo twice, insert hook in st, yo, draw lp through, [yo, draw through 2 lps on hook] 3 times
dtr = double treble yo three times, insert hook in st, yo, draw lp through, [yo, draw through 2 lps on hook] 4 times
2-petal cluster When completed, this cluster will make two petals, one with a ch-3 and 2 tr, one with 3 tr.

ch 3, yo twice, insert hook in top of previous tr in same row, yo, pull through st, (yo, pull through 2 lps on hook) 2 times, yo 2 times, insert hook in same st, yo, pull through st, (yo, pull through 2 lps on hook) 2 times, yo twice, insert hook in next tr of previous row, yo, pull through st, (yo, pull through 2 lps on hook) 2 times, yo 2 times, [insert hook in same st, yo, pull through st, (yo, pull through 2 lps on hook) 2 times] twice, yo, pull through all 6 lps on hook, ch 1

left petal cluster This cluster will form the third petal of the flower, and consists of a ch-3 and 2 tr.

ch 3, yo twice, insert hook in center loop of two-petal cluster, yo, pull through st, (yo, pull through 2 lps on hook) 2 times, yo 2 times, insert hook in same st, yo, pull through st, (yo, pull through 2 lps on hook) 2 times, yo, pull through all 3 lps on hook

top petal cluster This is makes the fourth petal of the flower, and is simply 3 tr clustered together.

yo twice, insert hook in center loop of two-petal cluster, yo, pull through st, (yo, pull through 2 lps on hook) 2 times, [yo 2 times, insert hook in same st, yo, pull through st, (yo, pull through 2 lps on hook) 2 times] twice, yo, pull through all 4 lps on hook
