| To make this poncho for a child: Measure the child’s head, then add 4” to that measurement. Divide it by 4, then round up to the nearest inch. So, if the child’s head measures 18” around, adding 4” makes it 22”. Divide by 4 and you get 5.5”, so round it up to the nearest inch and you have 6” as your magic number. For each panel, start with a chain of 46 and do one less pattern repeat across. Follow the pattern as above until the panel is longer than it is wide, then stop to measure. The difference between the length of the panel and the width should be equal to the magic number you calculated above. |
